I am testing a new way to let you know about my new media life from my cellphone.  I put up a keyboard improv that combined two sounds. The piano sound was enriched by adding a sound from Alchemy software. Often a little addition makes a big difference.

Response to Tom Shadyac’s “I am”

When internal selection
is in balance with external selection,
harmony with competition
cooperation and separation
Ethos and ecology
I am = we are
One

Job’s old testament God:
“I am who I am” becomes
“we are who we are”
One with God
When “a part” becomes interconnected
With other parts,
we are no longer
apart but in love,
love being the “responsibility
of an I for a Thou“(Buber),
responsible for each other.

Old Paintings

I found some images of old paintings I did that are now sold.  The images I have are quite small as it was necessary when the web was young and everything had to be condensed. jgyoungmd

Videos from 1709 Hillside Rd. Boulder, CO

The home at 1709 Hillside Rd. in Boulder, CO is a rare waterfront property with water views from every room of the house.  The home sits high above Boulder Creek with no flood damage from the recent “500 year flood.” Sold

1709 Hillside Rd is a quiet oasis right at the edge of the University of Colorado campus,  has the longest home frontage on Boulder Creek and sits across from a city park.

Being in the center of Boulder, it is an easy walking distance from 1709 Hillside Rd.  to Boulder Creek Path,  Macky Auditorium, CU Library,  Folsum Football Field, Boulder’s Farmer’s Market, Boulder Library, the Pearl Street Mall, the Boulder Contemporary Art Museum, Dushanbe Teahouse and many upscale restaurants.

I created these multimedia videos there in the home and on the grounds and the surrounding areas and posted them on YouTube.com/jgyoungmd.  Some are music videos, some poetry videos. I just added a new video of the grounds around 1709 Hillside Rd and a new one of a heron that checked out the property.

Artist’s Statement

John G. Young, M.D. (jgyoungmd) is a multimedia artist, musician, writer, and video creator/producer. He often combines his paintings, photography and digital art, with his poetry and music into CDs and videos. He has presented to Eleventh Annual Design Management Conference on Martha’s Vineyard Island, the Creativity and Madness program on art and artists, Maui, and produced an award-winning video, The Creative Adventure. You are invited to view his multiple creative styles in his new media works, over a thousand hyperlinks to paintings, poetry, music, videos, and read books, and articles about the creative process and creative person at www.jgyoungmd.net.

“My creative adventure in art is one of constant exploration of new media, new techniques, new styles and different subject matter. Most recently I have been exploring painting abstractions on paper, canvas and board. I have been imprinting, using resists, scratching, flowing paint, glazing and having all sorts of fun. I have been fascinated with texture, color, and design. The title comes last.

“This Breadworks show is an example of some of my most recent explorations. The images are also available as prints in various forms at http://jgyoungmd.fineartamerica.com/”

T’was the Night Before Christmas

Christmastree

Like an elaborate sand painting

hoping for rain,

placing colors together

for a moment in time.

you wrap presents

till 4 a.m. Christmas eve

now Christmas day,

and pile them high

about the Christmas tree,

the candles ablaze with wax

about to drip everywhere.

I worry the house

will burn down

if you will fall asleep

like you have done before,

even with coffee

in your hand,

spilling it all over your clothes,

but this night you are wide awake

recalling those brief moments

of happiness

when your father,

who loved you too much,

gave guilt gifts

in an otherwise gray time,

trying to capture

some positive memories

from Christmas past,

to pass onto Amy

who is no longer that young,

who sat through dinner

giving a Christmas Cheer,

when there was so little,

with arms raised,

hands pumping,

“C- H-R-E. . .”

misspelled in the

exuberance of effort,

and then we laughed.

but before you could ask,

after presents were unwrapped

and colors became rough confetti,

“Did you have a good Christmas?”

The deluge came–

I heard a call for help

from the room below.

Amy had vomited

into my office waste basket,

“All the shrimp you could eat.”
